I'm John Wilson
I’m John Wilson, a multi international award-winning Master Photographer, artist, and educator.
I started in my dad’s studio, built a career capturing weddings and portraits, then found my passion blending photography with art through cinematic composites.
Featured in The Masters magazine, I created John Wilson Photography Education a creative learning space with a built-in community where photographers grow their skills, share ideas, and create bold, storytelling images.

My Story
I left school at 16, but my journey really began much earlier in my dad’s small studio. I learned photography and printing by his side, helping at weddings and watching him craft portraits from the steps of his little creative world.
Over the years, I built a successful career capturing weddings, portraits, newborns, events, and pets. I loved the connection with people but I always felt something was missing. That changed when I discovered Photoshop and fell in love with the cinematic world of movie posters. Suddenly, I could blend my passion for art with my photography, creating bold, imaginative images that told stories in a whole new way.
After gaining recognition in the wedding and portrait world, I shifted my focus to school photography. I wanted to transform the typical “smile and click” experience into something truly creative and memorable. As my business grew, I began hiring and mentoring photographers and that’s when I found my second passion: teaching.
So many photographers were asking how I created my cinematic composites, and that’s when John Wilson Photography Education was born. Not only do I teach the techniques behind my award winning images (as featured in The Mastersmagazine), but I also built a supportive community where students can connect, share their work, ask questions, and grow together.
This isn’t just about learning photography it’s about unlocking your creative potential, building your confidence, and becoming the artist you’re meant to be.

Why I Do It?
I do this because I truly love seeing people grow into something they never thought possible. There’s nothing better than watching someone who’s never picked up a camera or touched Photoshop suddenly light up with confidence seeing their creativity come alive and realising, “I can actually do this.” It's even more special when I see young people who’ve been unsure of their path finally discover that photography is where they belong.
But the biggest reason I do this… is family. The crazy, wonderful bunch you see in the image to the right? That’s us my daughter Florence, my son Jacob, my incredible wife Carol, and our newest team member, Izzy the dog. Creating these images and tutorials together has become something so meaningful for us. It’s fun, it’s full of laughter, and it brings us closer every time. We’re not just making content we’re making memories. And getting to share that joy with you, to inspire and teach others through it that’s what makes it all worth it.
